What’s the core of Dat Sour Dough?
I believe the best things in life rise from the roots—heritage, story, and wisdom passed down through generations or studied by the sincere learner. Whether your traditions are spiritual, linguistic, or simply the smell of your grandmother’s kitchen, they matter. But tradition doesn’t have to stay still–you play a part in your tradition, and that part matters! Your unique flavor can bring boldness to the old ways, soul to the details, and maybe just the right amount of sass and spice 😉
At Dat Sour Dough you can bring your whole self: deep respect for traditions and time-honored wisdom, along with the autonomy to write your own story. Building a life—and a loaf—is about honoring the past while crafting something that’s unmistakably yours. It’s that perfect blend of past and possibility.
Who’s behind Dat Sour Dough?
Hi, my name is Alynne!
When I moved to Provo over a decade ago, I was disappointed at the lack of fresh bread (or, any bakeries that weren’t mostly donuts and cookies!). I decided to learn to make my own, and soon fell in love with sourdough.
Since then I got a degree in Arabic and Economics, lived in several countries, studied several more languages, worked at Goldman Sachs, grown my family, and much more.
In 2024 I took the leap and left my corporate job to start “Dat Sour Dough,” a micro-bakery focused on fresh, artisan sourdough made with ancient grains, diverse flavors, and truly exceptional craft.
Although I still like to imagine myself abroad solving the world’s problems, for now I’ve settled into simply enjoying the depth that diverse cultures, ideas, and flavors bring to my life in Utah County. And, in a way I’m still living my dream of solving the world’s problems…by bringing people together over healthy, delicious food.
